Science of Sport is offering a series of one-week virtual summer camps that will be focused around bringing math and science to life by using different sports examples.

Physics of Baseball

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in baseball such as player positions, fly balls, catching and throwing, launch angles, fielding percentages, and the strike zone.  Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

Mathematics of Baseball

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in baseball such as batting average, baseball scoring, MLB ballparks, and biomechanics.  Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

STEM Olympic Sports Camp

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in Olympic sports such as Newton’s Laws of Motion, biomechanics, nutrition, and physiology.  Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

STEM Golf Camp

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in golf such as scoring, club selection, statistics, famous holes on the PGA tour, and angles.  Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in basketball such as fractions, percentages, geometry, measurement, and energy.  Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in soccer such as rules, equipment, anatomy, player formations, and strategy.  Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in tennis such as Newton’s Laws of Motion, aerodynamics, nutrition, hydration, and geometry. Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

STEM Football Camp

Students will engage in hands-on and interactive concepts in football such as quarterback stats, passing, extra point percentages, kicking, scoring, and a variety of drills. Instructor-led academic activities will be supplemented with athletic activities.

FAQ

Science of Sport has built a Learning Management System through D2L and will be utilizing their Brightspace platform. The platform is secure and an invite will be sent to the parents email the week before the camp starts.
No, students will participate in a healthy mixture of active and online learning. Our goal is to have students interact with the activities, the instructor, and other students enrolled in the camp.
No, our camps are for all learners that either have zero experience with the sport or for those looking to improve the athletics and academics knowledge.
Each participant will leave with a certificate for completing the camp and a improved knowledge for STEM concepts.
