Join us at Edward Vincent Jr. Park for a day filled with fun, learning, and innovation. Through interactive activities that connect familiar sports with scientific principles, Inglewood STEM Fest makes STEM approachable and exciting for K-6th graders.
According to a 2024 National Science Foundation report, 60% of U.S. high school graduates lack the proficiency in mathematics and science necessary for entry-level college courses. This lack of preparedness early in education feeds into underrepresentation in STEM fields, especially among minority and low-income communities. Inglewood STEM Fest is designed to counter these challenges by providing engaging, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and foster a long-term interest in STEM subjects.
1) Ignite Curiosity and Conquer Challenges: Engage students with hands-on STEM activities that transform complex science and math concepts into enjoyable and memorable learning experiences, enhancing understanding and performance in STEM subjects.
2) Cultivate Future Innovators: Foster a nurturing environment that encourages K-6th graders to envision themselves in STEM careers, supporting their growth into tomorrow’s scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians.
3) Bridge the Gap: Increase access to STEM education for minority and underserved children, expanding opportunities and reducing educational disparities.
4) Scholarships for Bright Futures: Provide summer learning scholarships to help local youth continue their educational journey, promoting academic achievement and long-term success.
