What to expect of this Teacher Portal.

LAFC FIT, presented by Kaiser Permanente focuses on providing engaging hands-on learning opportunities forteachers to provide to their students. These health and wellness activities have an emphasis on fitness and social-emotional learning. Teachers will help their students use the materials and sporting equipment to complete the different activities and worksheets.

LAFC and Kaiser Permanente have made it a top priority to build a healthier Los Angeles by establishing dedicated health programs and activities for youth. The LAFC FIT program was designed for teachers like you because of our shared mission to improve the health and wellness of students throughout Los Angeles while fostering a healthier, more connected, and energized community.

Objective 1

Enhance Student Engagement – The Science of Health & Wellness Teacher Portal is designed to help educators make learning more engaging by incorporating real-world health and wellness examples. By using structured lesson plans that connect science and math concepts to nutrition, fitness, and mental well-being, students can see the relevance of health in their everyday lives. This approach not only makes learning more meaningful but also increases student motivation and participation, leading to a deeper understanding of key wellness topics.

Objective 2

Support Hands-On Learning – Hands-on experiences are essential for reinforcing health and wellness concepts, and our downloadable worksheets and activity guides provide step-by-step instructions for implementing interactive exercises. These activities encourage students to think critically, apply problem-solving skills, and explore health science in a tangible way. By using real-world wellness scenarios—such as meal planning, exercise tracking, and mindfulness techniques—educators can create dynamic lessons that promote healthy habits and real-life application of health knowledge.

Strengthen Health & Wellness Understanding – A well-structured curriculum is key to building student confidence in health-related subjects, and our wellness-focused curriculum provides educators with a comprehensive framework for instruction. By integrating topics like physical activity, nutrition, and mental health into Health & Wellness lessons, students can develop a stronger grasp of fundamental health concepts while making connections between classroom learning and personal well-being. This approach helps reinforce wellness skills, supports differentiated instruction, and ensures students of all learning styles can succeed in leading healthier lives.
